Fresh Breath Hygienists

For some people, fresh breath confidence is everything. You only get one chance to make a first impression, so you need to be sure you are remembered for the right reasons. If you meet people on a regular basis, socially or through work, then you will benefit from the kind of deep down clean that only a hygiene visit can achieve. Your smile will:

  • LOOK sparkly clean and stain free
  • SMELL minty fresh
  • FEEL beautifully smooth to the tongue

At Enhance Dental Care, we are proud of the great service provided by our team of hygienists. Many people comment not only how gentle and comfortable the experience is, but how thorough and comprehensive the level of care is. Seeing a hygienist is essential to maintain a healthy mouth free of gum disease and ensure that any dental work carried out is kept in the best possible condition.

Gum disease is the biggest cause of tooth loss and is largely preventable. It starts off with a build up of plaque on the teeth which can cause the gums to look red, bleed and give bad breath. If left, the plaque can harden into calculus (also known as tartar) which doesn’t brush off and irritates the gums. If it is not treated, the gums get more infected causing the bone that holds the teeth in to shrink away and ultimately, the teeth become painful, loose and drop out. THIS IS ALL UNNECCESSARY AND AVOIDABLE!

For some people, a simple scale and polish once or twice a year is all that is required. For others, a more in-depth approach is appropriate. That’s why we offer full diagnosis and assessment including measurements to determine the degree of gum disease and bone loss. Then, a protocol treatment is drawn up which is bespoke and tailor made to your needs. This may include:

  • superficial scaling
  • deep sub-gingival cleaning known as root planing
  • polishing away plaque and staining
  • eliminating food trapping areas
  • flossing advice and instruction
  • toothbrush or mouthwash recommendations
  • dietary advice
  • learn new oral hygiene techniques, eg, TePe brushes, Superfloss
  • localized antimicrobial therapy, eg, Elizol, Periochip
  • taking tablets such as Periostat or Metronidazole

Depending on your needs, this can be reviewed and repeated at suitable intervals to ensure your oral health is optimized. At all times the treatment you benefit from is bespoke to your individual situation. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to your oral health.
